The YMCA Lucas Kindergarten has been closed after a child attending the centre tested positive for COVID-19.

Parents and carers received a text message late Tuesday stating the kinder would be closed for sessions on Wednesday, and received a follow-up email just before 9.30am Wednesday confirming a child had received a positive test result.
Following advice from the Department of Health and Human Services, the kinder will be closed to all children and staff until at least August 18 to allow for a full risk assessment including a full clean to the required specifications to ensure the facility, equipment and surfaces are safe.
The child's last attendance at the service was August 4 and the kindergarten has sent communications directly to families who attended the service at the same time as the child.
The Lucas Kindergarten temporarily relocated from the Lucas Community Hub to Lucas Primary School during term two.
DHHS has advised that all children and staff from the kindergarten are requested to remain at home while contact tracing occurs.
"If you are identified as being a potential close contact, DHHS will be in contact to discuss the appropriate next steps, including testing," YMCA managers wrote in their email to parents.

It is unknown whether the Lucas case is related to the closure of nearby Alfredton Primary School, which was also shut down for a precautionary deep clean on Wednesday after a reported case of COVID-19.
An email sent to parents on Tuesday night did not say if the suspected case at Alfredton Primary was from a pupil or staff member.
