Security camera footage shared online by Brisbane radio host Kip Wightman shows the dramatic moment his niece Rosie finds her pet MaxiBon about to become dinner.
Searching in some bushes in her Eumundi backyard on the Sunshine Coast, Rosie emerges holding a snake with her fluffy white guinea pig in its jaws.
Rosie spins in a circle, swinging the snake by its tail in an attempt to free her beloved pet before her dad intervenes, separating the animals and flinging the snake into the garden.
MaxiBon escaped with "just a little scratch" due to Rosie's efforts while the snake was unharmed.
"I didn't even think it through. I was just like, grab the snake, grab the snake," Rosie told 7News.
Mr Wightman shared his pride in a shoutout to his niece who "hates snakes but loves her guinea pig more!".
